We have an opportunity to ensure that these particular weapons of war [namely, beliefs, rhetoric, and ideology that are wrong, hateful, and dangerous] do not become an established part of warfare.”
The Department of Truth brand + identity concept is primarily inspired by specific events, statements, and trends, as well as widespread values and beliefs in western society today (particularly in the U.S., which is my own societal context). It is also inspired in part by the Biden administration’s “Disinformation Governance Board” which was created in April 2022 and dissolved just four months later in the face of criticism and scandal.
