Saints Barrel—voted Best Wine Bar in San Luis Obispo County in 2022—has a vibey, organic interior, a great creekside patio, and plenty of space for groups inside or outside.

The Challenge
Saints Barrel is the freshest new hangout spot in downtown San Luis Obispo. Coming into their new endeavor, they were certain about a few things. First, they had the best combination of wines, provisions, and group space in SLO, including a patio overlooking the San Luis Obispo Creek. Second, they had a name, derived from the ‘San’ in San Luis Obispo and a wine barrel. Third, they liked the idea of a bee because of its cultural and historical significance. What they lacked was a brand identity that could bring all that together in one cohesive visual voice.
The Solution
We conducted extensive exploration into the Saints Barrel brand itself, along with some in-depth target customer research and a thorough audit of competitors in SLO. The summary of our findings was that the space itself—with its deep, organic, wine-themed interior vibe and spacious accommodation for groups inside or creekside—that makes Saints Barrel unique and superior among competitors, and most appealing to their socially-oriented target customer.
The brand that resulted is a sharp, modern, mature identity laid on a solid, strategic foundation that communicates precisely at the intersection of who Saints Barrel is, what they do best, and what their target customer values most.
